Our Story
There is something wonderful about being truly welcomed. We can both remember people in our lives who have welcomed us into their homes. The most memorable times have been when we have needed a break or when life has been tough.
We are so grateful to have this home and to be able to share it with others. We call Tall Trees a space to “press the pause button”. An opportunity to re-calibrate. Much of our early married life was spent welcoming young people into our homes. Squashing into our lounge it didn’t matter much about the decor as long as there were biscuits and hot chocolate! Later on we focussed on providing a place for homeless teenagers to stay whilst they sorted out their lives.
Nowadays, Pete’s work takes him into local schools as a counsellor and Mandy accompanies people on their life journey as a spiritual companion to help them explore faith.
We bought Tall Trees in December 2019 specifically to provide space for anyone who needs it together with a ‘listening ear’ if required.
Tall Trees is set in about 1/2 acre garden and is nestled in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. The river Avon is a short walk away and, as for local walks, just pull on those wellies and step outside the front door! Stratford upon Avon, Evesham and the beautiful Cotswold village of Broadway are a short drive away.
A few minutes from the driveway of Tall Trees is a small wood leading to the millennium green - an area of land preserved and protected by and for the local community (or the breathing space!). And here lies a real treasure - The Sanctuary. A wooden door over which the words ‘the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations’ have been carved. Blink and you might miss it altogether! A beautiful spot greets you in which to pray and watch nature.
